In 2019, Igelkott Studios’ Eric Hasso joined forces with Barco projection specialist Vello Hermann to design a next-generation solution for filming car scenes.
Their projection-based workflow replaces conventional lighting and avoids LED limitations, delivering cinematic results without compromise.
From the permanent Igelkott Studios facility to mobile set-ups, the system uses multiple Barco UDX and HDX projectors for 360° high-resolution playback. This allows realistic lighting synced with background footage, no visible pixels, and true HDR capabilities. By combining precision optics with advanced playback control, the approach meets the highest demands of modern productions.

About Igelkott Studios
Igelkott Studios is a projection-based virtual production company working in in-camera visual effects. Its One-Lens 16K360 system captures 360° driving plates with a single lens on a single sensor, so nothing is stitched and there is no seam to paint out.
The plates are sold as a public, priced library: 437 filmed 360° driving plates across 14 locations in five countries, 349 at 8K360 and 88 at 16K360, delivered as equirectangular ProRes 422 HQ. Every plate carries a free ten-second sample at full resolution.
